beditation makes sense

Posted in News on October 23rd, 2014 by Simon – Comments Off

beditation 300x178 beditation makes senseWe have got used to words being combined to describe a hot new trend – such as yoga and surfing holidays being called ‘yurfing’ or beach and yoga holidays being called ‘boga’.. however some of these fusions work better than others. We think ‘Beditation’ – the concept of meditation and yoga before bed in order to promote better sleep – is spot on. In fact the term has been given a more official status as it has been clinically proven with the NHS even including information on its website alongside a video to take part in – stating that it is the “ideal bedtime wind-down”.

If you are looking for a more glamorous location to practice, look no further than our wide choice of meditation and yoga holidays in Europe, India and Thailand.  If you would like advice on which would be the best option for you, please don’t hesitate to call our travel experts on 020 8968 0501 or just send us an email

aman resorts – the epitomy of boutique hotel luxury

Posted in News on October 13th, 2014 by Simon – Comments Off

amangani in wyoming usa 300x202 aman resorts the epitomy of boutique hotel luxuryAman Resorts, and its worldwide collection of luxury boutique hotels, are generally acknowledged as the global benchmark for quality, style, refinement and service.  And The Healthy Holiday Company is proud to be ‘A Trusted Aman Wellness Travel Partner’.  Amanpuri, the first Aman Resort, opened in 1988 in Thailand and there are now 27 dotted across the world. For Europeans, craving a luxurious short haul Aman ‘fix’, it’s an easy hop to Montenegro (Aman Sveti Stefan), Greece (Amanzoe), Turkey (Amanruya), and Morocco (Amanjena).  For those seeking a healthy holiday experience, in sublime luxury, Aman Resorts’ acclaimed spas are central to each property’s ethos and, when combined with superb Yoga and Pilates instruction, and beautiful peaceful environments (aman is the ancient sanskrit word for peace), guests can truly kick back and relax. Those who want to mix some activities and fitness training in to their holiday experience can workout in the fitness room, swim, jump on a mountain bike or head off in to the hills for a hike. Each resort tends to have one or more additional speciality activities too: such as horse riding, skiing, yachting and scuba diving.  They all offer local cultural excursions.  Just let us know what you’re interested in and we can advise the best destination for you.

As far as we are aware, Aman Resorts is the only global hotel brand that’s generated a monika for its band of ultra-loyal guests:  Amanjunkies. But it’s easy to understand why visitors become Amanjunkies as the collection’s low-volume boutique approach extends to each of its properties, and the relentlessly high standards, seemingly effortless service and exceptional attention to detail, prevail at all Aman properties – from Amangani in Wyoming (pictured) to Amanwella in Sri Lanka.

holidays to gozo

Posted in News on October 9th, 2014 by Simon – Comments Off

the nearby azure window 300x201 holidays to gozoThis tiny little Mediterranean island is enjoying a bit of a renaissance at the moment and we don’t think that there’s anything particularly surprising about that as it’s such a glorious year-round destination.  Sitting a few miles north west of Malta, Gozo offers beautiful countryside, a rugged coastline, pretty beaches and coves, charming hospitality and a couple of superb places to stay.  Once you’re at one of our recommended hotels you can choose to simply relax in the sunshine or be as active as you like – or a blend of both.

For those looking to be active, the walking / hiking is superb, as are the extensive trails for mountain biking – and then there’s the very highly rated scuba diving and snorkelling that’s made all the more pleasurable by the warm water and the incredible 30m of visibility.  For those looking to relax, both of our featured hotels have two or more swimming pools, lovely spas and easy access to the beach.  We’re recommending the Kempinski San Lawrenz (luxury hotel with superb spa facilities, wellness programmes, yoga, fitness and tennis), whilst nearby Ta Cenc is simpler and more rustic but utterly charming – and with spectacular coastal views from its quiet location in a nature reserve.  Best of all, they are both excellent value!

Treehouse The BodyHoliday 300x190 the body holidayNow that the European summer is nearly over, many people’s thoughts are turning to ideas about healthy escapes to somewhere gorgeous and hot over the winter.  Combined that with the Bradley Wiggins effect and the ceaseless rise in cycling devotees, plus the explosion of spinning classes (both at regular health clubs and in one of the new breed of cycling studios such as Boom Cycle and Psycle), and the ever popular Body Holiday in St Lucia is picking up even more of our clients than before, courtesy of their spectacular new treehouse spinning studio.  As The Body Holiday is an all-inclusive resort, spinning classes (and everything else) is included within the cost of your stay.

For example, a 10 night stay in November for a solo traveller, flying with British Airways, costs a very reasonable £3,881 staying in a Single Garden View Room.  7 nights would be £3,004.  Price also includes private airport transfers.

new year retreats

Posted in News on September 4th, 2014 by Simon – Comments Off

stretching 300x242 new year retreatsOn the basis that it’s never too early to think about what you would like to do over New Year, we thought we should put together some ideas for three different kinds of healthy, rejuvenating holidays over the New Year break.  All are group holidays, so you would be joining a small group of like-minded adults who are all interested in either fitness, yoga or detoxing – or a blend of all three.

Choose from a 5 night destination yoga holiday to a luxurious boutique hotel in southern Spain (5 nights from £995) or a 7 night fitscape fitness holiday in Andalusia (from £1,495) or an in:spa health, fitness and detox retreat at a magnificent private villa in Marrakech (7 nights from £1,995). Whichever one you choose, you can be sure of returning home looking and feeling amazing and ready to face the start of 2015.

All of these annual retreats are always very popular and tend to get booked up a long way in advance. So, we would recommend booking sooner rather than later.  This also ensures that flight prices are kept to a minimum too.  For more info, please see New Year retreats

juice detox review

Posted in News on August 8th, 2014 by Simon – Comments Off

juice detox sianji 300x208 juice detox reviewWe recently invited a journalist to fly down to Turkey’s beautiful south coast to try out the Juice Detox programme at Sianji Wellbeing Resort.  She concluded her article by saying:

“Following such an extreme diet for a week had a dramatic effect. With the master detox, you’re not just cutting out toxins you’re flushing them out of your liver and kidney. This massive release of pollutants left me feeling exhausted. I was overwhelmed with tiredness on the first day and even fell asleep for a couple of hours in the afternoon, which is something I never normally do – even on holiday.  Anyone with a caffeinate addiction who’s tried to cut down on coffee knows how it feels to suddenly deprive your body of the stimulates it’s used to. The headaches were also really painful (in the forehead and behind the eyes) for the first couple of days.  But, I was thrilled with the results. My skin was glowing, I felt more energetic and the bloat I normally suffer with daily had vanished. There’s NO WAY I would have been able to complete this detox at home, but it really didn’t feel like a challenge at all at the resort.”
