We recently invited a journalist to fly down to Turkey’s beautiful south coast to try out the Juice Detox programme at Sianji Wellbeing Resort. She concluded her article by saying:
“Following such an extreme diet for a week had a dramatic effect. With the master detox, you’re not just cutting out toxins you’re flushing them out of your liver and kidney. This massive release of pollutants left me feeling exhausted. I was overwhelmed with tiredness on the first day and even fell asleep for a couple of hours in the afternoon, which is something I never normally do – even on holiday. Anyone with a caffeinate addiction who’s tried to cut down on coffee knows how it feels to suddenly deprive your body of the stimulates it’s used to. The headaches were also really painful (in the forehead and behind the eyes) for the first couple of days. But, I was thrilled with the results. My skin was glowing, I felt more energetic and the bloat I normally suffer with daily had vanished. There’s NO WAY I would have been able to complete this detox at home, but it really didn’t feel like a challenge at all at the resort.”

As you might expect, we’re constantly jumping on planes to visit the hotels and resorts we feature. This enables us to keep up to date with new developments and to be sure that the facilities and services on offer are as we remember them from our last visit. Sometimes, thankfully very rarely, the hotel falls below our expected standards and we have to drop them from our portfolio (this has occurred on one occasion this year) but almost every time the hotel or resort has moved on and become even better. They have to in this day and age! And this is definitely the case for the properties our team have recently visited.
Over the past couple of weeks, Kathryn has stayed Ekies All Senses Resort in Halkidiki, Greece as well as visiting nearby Danai Beach Resort. And Serena has jetted over to Sicily to stay at Sir Rocco Forte’s magnificent Verdura Golf & Spa Resort. And, last weekend, Serena and Sophie spent a couple of nights at SHA Wellness Clinic in southern Spain. Please click on the links to read their reviews.
Sadly, there isn’t always time to write up a review of the places we visit, in which case we simply amend the website presentation of the property in question in order to keep it fully up to date. Other very recent visits include several superb hotels in and around Marrakech, including The Selman (great for guests who love horses and riding), The Capaldi (a lovely oasis in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains: perfect for relaxation and wonderful hikes), Le Palais Paysan (brilliant for a weekend getaway overlooking the mountains) and The Fellah (wonderful family orientated all-villa hotel 20 minutes outside Marrakech).
Our sister company, Destination Yoga, has a fabulous selection of yoga retreats on offer throughout the summer and autumn. Summer destinations include a charming trulli in rural Puglia, a classic country farmhouse in Umbria near the wonderful medieval hilltop town of Orvieto, and Finca Paradiso – a gorgeous country retreat in southern Spain with fabulous sea and mountain views. Prices for 7 nights start at £695 per person sharing.
For the autumn, Destination Yoga will be hosting two 7 night yoga holidays at Paradis Plage on the wild Morocco coast and, in November, there’s a magical 7 night retreat to Shillim Estate Retreat & Spa (flying in to Mumbai) which spans 320 acres in a serene and unspoiled setting amidst the spectacular landscape of the Sahyadri mountain range in the Western Ghats. 7 nights from £1,395. To round off the year, there will be two 5 night retreats to Shanti Som in the peaceful rolling hills of Andalusia. One in late November and another over New Year.

With so many people electing to go on holiday alone these days, either through choice or circumstance, we thought we should put together our pick of the best holiday options for solo travellers. What we call ‘singles friendly’. The great news is that in the ‘healthy holiday’ arena there are lots of fabulous holiday options for singles. These fall in to two general categories: holidays where you join a group of other like-minded people and holidays where the resort or hotel is properly geared up for single travellers and have a significant percentage of single travellers in resort at any one time. We’ve even identified several holiday destinations that are ‘adult only’ to ensure that solo travellers don’t run the risk of being swamped by hoards of children. So, whether you want a relaxing spa break, a yoga, meditation, pilates or detox retreat, a fitness holiday, hiking, or a weight loss retreat, we’ve carefully selected all the best ideas – to suit all budgets. Destinations include Morocco, Cyprus, Spain, Italy, India, France, Bali, Thailand and the Caribbean. So, here are a selection of ideas to stimulate your imagination:
Please don’t hesitate to call us on 020 8968 0501 or send us an email and we will gladly put together some ideas that are perfect for you.
With almost everywhere now fully booked, we’re pleased to let you know that Zening, Cyprus – Europe’s first adult only resort dedicated to yoga, meditation and wellbeing – still has some availability. It only opened last summer and is not yet on everyone’s radar, hence the fact that we can still offer availability. It’s an easy flight from London to Paphos, followed by a 45 minute transfer to this charming boutique resort.
When you get there you’ll discover the lovely views over the Mediterranean, the good but simple accommodation, and the daily programme of classes that include yoga, meditation, pilates, zumba and fitness. You can grab a bicycle (also complimentary) and explore the adjacent Akamas National Park or stroll down to the beach or the local fishing village.
A 7 night stay is from £450 per person sharing a Yogi Studio or £650 for single occupancy. Price includes full board, all daily classes and airport transfers. Shorter or longer stays are available. It’s up to you.
One of the great joys of Zening is that it’s ideal for single travellers.
For full details, please see Zening, Cyprus or just call us on 020 8968 0501 and we will gladly talk you through everything.
We’re delighted to have recently added The Romanos Costa Navarino on the Peloponnese coast of mainland Greece. It’s an exceptional 5 star luxury resort that’s ideal for both couples and families. We particularly like the beautiful setting and remarkable choice of land and water sports available. There’s most definitely something for everyone here, whatever their age of preference. Racquet sports include tennis, squash, padel and badminton. Other land activities include hiking, mountain biking, fitness training, yoga and pilates. For water sports enthusiasts, there’s surfing, kayaking, kite surfing, padel boarding, wind surfing, sailing, snorkeling and scuba diving. Of course, if you just want to switch off and relax you can do that too! Put your feet up beside the pool or on the beach, or treat yourself to some indulgent pampering in the resort’s fabulous spa. Parents can relax in the knowledge that their children are happy and entertained. The children’s club looks after the wee ones from the age of 4 months to 12 years old. Best of all, there’s a fantastic aqua park for thrills and spills for all the family.
The resort is located on a wonderful stretch of coastline, surrounded by forests and in easy striking distance of a selection of gorgeous beaches. For the quality of service, facilities and accommodation, we think this place is excellent value for money at the luxury end of the scale. For example, a week in July for a family of 5 is from £7,340, including flights and transfers.
We have added The Romanos Costa Navarino to our pick of the best family resorts in Europe.
