Posted in News on March 31st, 2015 by Simon – Comments Off

sani resort overview 300x199 luxury family resorts in greeceWe are delighted to add the superb Sani Resort (pictured) in Halkidiki to our portfolio of luxury family resorts in Greece.  Sani Resort, set in 1,000 acres, is actually comprised of four different hotels, providing families with a wide choice of options for their holiday: Sani Beach Hotel, Porto Sani Village, Sani Asterias Suites and the Sani Beach Club. Lush, landscaped gardens with Mediterranean scents on this unspoilt peninsular separate the hotels, whilst the Aegean Sea laps gently along the 7 mile sandy beach.  One of the big attractions of Sani Resort is the amount of activities and facilities the resort, as a whole, offers for all ages and interests. A particular highlight is the bustling marina and shopping plaza with its choice of restaurants, lively bars, boutiques and great leisure and sports facilities, including yoga and fitness.  We can offer 7 nights from £580 per person (low season) to £1,995 (high season) for a family of four sharing a double family bungalow at the Sani Beach Club on a half board basis, including flights and transfers.

Other first class family resorts in Greece include The Romanos with stunning views across the Ionian Sea in Messinia, and Daios Cove on Crete.  Naturally, our selection of outstanding options in Greece is not restricted to just these three!  To view all our recommended hotels and private family villas, please see all places to stay in Greece

aerial yoga in morocco

Posted in News on March 27th, 2015 by Simon – Comments Off

aerial yoga paradis plage 300x245 aerial yoga in moroccoThere are so many different types of yoga already on offer, so why not one more?  Aerial Yoga is the hot new trend.  Also known as yogaria, floating yoga and anti-gravity yoga, Aerial Yoga (pictured) involves the use of a suspended hammock to support you and help you achieve traditional yoga poses. It’s an excellent way of deepening the stretches without over-stressing your joints. By using the special suspended hammock, pratitioners can quickly progress to more difficult poses as it helps take the weight off the spine and joints. Aerial Yoga can help to improve blood flow and is particularly good for opening up the spine. It is also a fantastic ab workout.

We invited a journalist from Mail Online to fly down to one of our favourite beach resorts in Morocco – Paradis Plage – to try it out and write a review.  She obviously had a wonderful time and concluded that nothing quite compares “to the serenity of facing the warm Moroccan sunrise while suspended at 180 degrees.”  To read her full story, please see her Mail Online article.  If you simply want to enjoy more traditional forms of yoga during your holiday in Morocco at Paradis Plage, you most certainly can.  And, even better, the yoga studio is right on the beach – so perfectly placed for you to enjoy the sound of the waves lapping on to the beach during your class.

Aerial Yoga is also available at the delightful Spa Village Tembok in Bali and the glamorous Hotel Castello at the Forte Village resort in Sardinia.

luxury holidays in the maldives

crusoe residence 300x200 luxury holidays in the maldivesWe are pleased to have recently added Gili Lankanfushi (pictured) to our portfolio of exceptional luxury holiday options in the Maldives.  Formerly known as Soneva Gili, it was the first all over-water villa resort in the Maldives and still leads the way with its spectacular villas-on-stilts. It manages to brilliantly combine barefoot luxury, stylish sophistication and exceptional service – all the villas come with their own Man Friday to look after your every requirement and some of the villas can only be reached by boat.  How’s that for guaranteed privacy?  When you feel you have spent enough time relaxing in your villa or being wonderfully pampered in the spa, there’s plenty of water and land activities to keep you active and entertained. The Dive Centre offers fabulous diving experiences, including the world famous Manta Point. There’s also paddle boarding, water skiing, hobiecat sailing, fishing and snorkeling. On land, you can enjoy yoga classes, work out in the gym, play tennis or badminton. And then, at the end of another glorious day in this Indian Ocean paradise, you can choose from any number of romantic private spots for dinner if one of the restaurants doesn’t take your fancy that night.  All this luxury comes at a price, of course.  But we can offer 7 nights here in a Water Villa from £3,125 per person, including flights and transfers.

For a summary of all our recommended places to stay in the Maldives (with prices for 7 nights starting at £1,255), please see all places to stay in the Maldives

essaouira

view of essaouira 300x190 essaouiraFrom 1 May, easyJet will commence direct flights to Essaouira – on the Morocco coast – from London Luton with departures on Fridays and Mondays.  Perfect for those just looking for a quick weekend in the sunshine; although 5 and 7 night options ate obviously possible too.  Essaouira is a delightful coastal town and, as the first Moroccan seaport, revolutionised trading with Europe. Today, it’s primarily a fishing village with a bustling medina. We are recommending three gorgeous little riad hotels in the heart of the old town, just yards from the sea and the souks.  All offer friendly hospitality, charming accommodation and wonderful views.  See all places to stay in Essaouira.  For those who want to discover the delights of other parts of Morocco (rather than just nipping down for the weekend) we have created a couple of sample itineraries, both incorporating a couple of nights in Essaouira. Try the 9 night Morocco adventure from £995 per person or the 6 night luxury Morocco holiday from £1,455. Both take you in to the Medina of Marrakech and high up in to the Atlas Mountains but, as you can tell from the price difference, offering rather different accommodation options.

ayurveda retreats

ayurveda retreat 300x168 ayurveda retreatsUntil recently, we would have recommended that any one interested in an Ayurvedic Retreat would have to fly to India and, indeed, for a truly authentic Ayurvedic experience that is still the case, but it’s now possible to enjoy an Ayurvedic Retreat in the Mediterranean on the tiny little island of Gozo.  The Kempinski San Lawrenz has invested in a new Ayurveda area within their impressive spa complex, managed by a charming Indian Ayurvedic physician, and now offer guests Ayurveda Retreats from 3 to 28 nights.  All come with 90 minutes of Ayurveda treatments each day, plus full board Ayurveda cuisine and daily yoga.  A 7 night retreat, including accommodation and airport transfers is available from £1,955 per person sharing or £2,310 for single occupancy.  There are daily flights to Malta from several airports in the UK and then it’s a short ferry ride across to Gozo.

During your stay at the hotel, you can enjoy a complimentary daily schedule of activities that include walks, runs, cycle rides and yoga. There’s also a complimentary shuttle service to some of the island’s most charming and picturesque villages.

For those who feel that the only way to enjoy a true Ayurvedic retreat experience is to travel to India, please see our Top 5 Ayurveda retreat destinations in India.

hiking in the atlas mountains

kasbah du toubkal set in the atlas mountains 300x214 hiking in the atlas mountainsMarrakech is an easy short haul flight from the UK and the drive in to the Atlas Mountains, depending on your choice of accommodation, is just 45 to 70 minutes from the airport.  In addition to Sir Richard Branson’s luxurious mountain hideaway – Kasbah Tamadot – and the rather more traditional La Roseraie hotel, we have recently added the extraordinary Kasbah du Toukbal (pictured) to our selection of superb bases for enthusiastic hikers and trekkers.  Kasbah du Toukbal sits at 1,800m at the foot of North Africa’s highest mountain and, whilst the accommodation is rustic and simple, it’s still blissfully comfortable after a good day’s hiking and the service is friendly and charming.  From the Kasbah, guests can enjoy hiking in every and any direction, included guided hikes to the base camp of Mount Toubkal or, for the fit, even hike up to the summit at 4,000m.

The Kasbah is reached by a short walk from the village of Imlil, while a mule will carry bags up the path to the property. On arrival, guests are greeted by the most charming locals who will encourage them to treat the place as their home and take pleasure in serving set menus of traditional local dishes and gallons of mint tea.   Kasbah Du Toubkal has two huge rooftop terraces with shaded areas perfect for relaxing and enjoying the panoramic mountain views. There is also a hammam and plunge pool, and a book and music library with board games.  The accommodation ranges from standard rooms through to expansive suites so there’s something to suit everyone’s budget and tastes.

If you would like our expert advice on what option(s) may be best for you, please don’t hesitate to call us on 020 8968 0501 or simply send us an email and we can advise you accordingly.  Why not mix a stay in the mountains with a few nights in Marrakech or on the coast?  Or both!

curing insomnia

spa relaxation areas 300x200 curing insomniaAccording to the NHS, a staggering one third of the UK population suffers from insomnia and other sleep related problems.  With this in mind, it’s therefore hardly surprising that we have noticed a growing number of people getting in touch with us seeking advice on programmes that can help them achieve the delight of a good night’s sleep.  Happily, there are now a few specialist wellness hotels and resorts that are offering varying forms of ‘sleep better’ programmes.  These range from 4 night residential programmes in the UK (that come with year-long support) through to 7 night ‘holiday’ programmmes in Ibiza, Thailand and Spain.  See all our recommended sleep better programmes and destinations.   However, from our experience operating in:spa retreats (unique 7 night health, fitness and detox retreats) some people don’t need to take part in a specific programme and can respond positively to a few simple diet and lifestyle changes. Please see some very helpful tips and advice from a few of our resident health and wellbeing experts.

early booking discounts

Posted in News on January 9th, 2015 by Simon – Comments Off

early booking discountsAlmost every hotel and resort offers early booking discounts for those who are able to plan ahead.  For example, if you book your holiday by 31 January you can save up to 35% on accommodation but, if you don’t quite manage to make the end of January deadline, a great many places will still be offering discounts of up to 20% on holidays booked more than 90 days in advance.  Of course, it’s not just great savings available on accommodation that count, the general rule is that the earlier you book your flights the cheaper they will be too.  This makes a very significant difference to holiday costs if you’re planning a trip over Easter or Christmas or the peak summer months of July and August.  Furthermore, depending on where and when you’re travelling, we often don’t need to take anything more than a 10% deposit to secure your booking, with the balance generally falling due 8 weeks prior to departure.

To get some inspiration and to see our recommendations of where to go in any particular month, please see our ideas by month.  To view our current top discount offers, please see special offers.  Where ever and whenever you wish to go on holiday our travel specialists can always advise on the best price options in any given month and in any geographical destination and, of course, secure you the best possible deal.  Please call 020 8968 0501 or send us an email outlining your requirements.
