Stayed May 2026

We spent time at Lindenhof in South Tyrol as a family of four, travelling with children aged 12 and 4. With beautiful spring weather throughout our stay (late May), it was an ideal opportunity to experience both the hotel itself and the wider region.

Lindenhof is an interesting property. It doesn’t fit neatly into the traditional luxury family hotel category, nor does it feel like a conventional wellness retreat. Instead, it occupies a space somewhere in between, which is exactly what will appeal to many guests.

There is a contemporary feel throughout, but this is balanced by genuinely warm hospitality, impressive facilities and a strong focus on wellbeing and activity. You’ll also get a real feel for the owners love of arts throughout the property, with many pieces on display. Having stayed there, I can clearly see the type of traveller who would enjoy it most: active couples, wellness-minded guests and families who like to spend their days exploring, hiking, cycling or enjoying the mountains before returning to a comfortable base with excellent food and spa facilities.

Our Nature Suite worked perfectly for a family stay. Spacious and thoughtfully designed, it offered plenty of room for all four of us without ever feeling crowded. The standout feature was undoubtedly the terrace, with panoramic views across the surrounding mountains and vineyards. The private infrared sauna was a welcome addition after active days outdoors, while the bath, positioned to make the most of the scenery, became a favourite spot for both us and the children.

Dining was consistently impressive throughout our stay. Dinner in particular exceeded expectations on several evenings, with standout dishes including beautifully prepared cocoa tortelli  with beef cheek and an exceptional lamb course with a thyme jus. The atmosphere remained relaxed and family-friendly without compromising on quality, something Lindenhof manages particularly well. Lunch also offered a wider variety of options than many wellness-focused hotels, making it easy to keep everyone happy, regardless of age or appetite.

The wellness facilities are undoubtedly one of Lindenhof’s strongest assets. The adults-only spa areas are genuinely beautiful, with stunning views and a collection of thoughtfully designed spaces that encourage relaxation. What surprised us most was how quiet these areas often were. Even during a busy holiday period, it was possible to find many peaceful corners to enjoy uninterrupted time overlooking the mountains.

For families, there is plenty to enjoy beyond the spa. The children’s facilities are well designed and the atmosphere throughout the hotel feels welcoming rather than overly formal. Sport is clearly an important part of the Lindenhof experience, whether that’s making use of the excellent gym, exploring the surrounding hiking and cycling trails, or simply enjoying the active lifestyle that defines so much of South Tyrol.

The gym deserves particular mention. It is exceptionally well-equipped, spacious, modern and suitable for everyone from casual exercisers to serious fitness enthusiasts.

What ultimately stood out most was Lindenhof’s versatility. Couples could easily spend their entire stay moving between the spa, fitness facilities and South Tyrol’s outdoor activities, while families have enough space, facilities and flexibility to create their own balance between adventure and relaxation.

Plus there’s a supervised kid’s club too, set within a beautiful and bright space, and full of so much for the youngest guests to do and explore. Teens can make use of the teens lounge, parkour course and climbing wall – there really is something for everyone here.

For travellers looking for a polished wellness hotel with excellent food, outstanding spa facilities and direct access to one of Italy’s most beautiful regions, Lindenhof is a compelling option.
