Among the standout experiences was the Hot Quartz Sand Spa Ritual. Inspired by ancient thermal therapies, this deeply relaxing treatment uses heated quartz sand to create a sensation of warmth and weightlessness that helps release muscular tension and calm the nervous system. There is something profoundly grounding about the experience, and it perfectly captures ZEM’s ability to blend traditional wellness practices with modern luxury.
Perhaps the most fascinating discovery during my stay was METAWELL, ZEM’s collection of advanced wellness technologies.
Designed to complement the retreat’s broader health philosophy, these non-invasive treatments focus on recovery, relaxation, and optimisation.
These treatments may sound futuristic, but what impressed me most was how seamlessly they were integrated into the overall wellness journey. Technology is never the focus, but it serves as another tool to feel and function at your best.
Throughout my stay, I came to understand why ZEM places such emphasis on its four pillars.

The location helps too. Altea remains one of the Costa Blanca’s most charming towns, with its whitewashed streets, artistic heritage, and relaxed pace of life
providing the perfect complement to the retreat experience.
I left ZEM Altea feeling rested, re-energised and, perhaps most importantly, informed. Beyond the exceptional facilities and luxurious surroundings, the retreat offers something increasingly valuable: a deeper understanding of how to support your health in the years ahead.
