A small number of hotels in Greece offer a level of privacy and discretion that goes beyond traditional luxury. These are not large resorts or widely promoted names, but properties where space, service and setting come together in a way that feels genuinely different.
Porto Zante sits directly on a quiet stretch of beachfront, where each of the nine villas open straight onto the sea. It’s one of the few places in Greece where this level of privacy is combined with a level of service that is closer to a fully staffed private residence, while retaining complete privacy.
What sets it really sets apart is how completely everything centres around your villa. There’s no need to navigate shared spaces or follow a set rhythm. Dining is arranged around you, whether privately in your villa, on the beach or within one of the resort’s exceptional restaurants. The sea just steps away and everything is shaped entirely around how you choose to spend your time.
Younger guests are very well looked after, with a personalised approach to the kids’ programme, outdoor play areas and a range of activities shaped around the ages and interests of those staying. Alongside this, there’s plenty to keep everyone engaged, from tennis and mini golf to horse riding, snorkelling and time on the water. You can do as little, or as much, as you choose – nothing is too much trouble here.
For adults, the pace shifts easily back to stillness. A selection of over 20 spa treatments, inspired by Greek nature, can be arranged either in the privacy of your villa or within the waterfront spa, allowing the experience to remain as private or as social as you choose.
There’s also a level of discretion here that appeals to a very particular client. It’s long been known for attracting high-profile guests who value privacy, and the way the resort is structured reflects that, with each villa positioned to feel entirely separate.
The most exclusive villas, including the Royal and Presidential Spa Villas, are positioned closest to the water, with expansive layouts, multiple bedrooms, private spa facilities and full service throughout.
Best suited to: families, multi-generational stays, and couples wanting complete privacy.
The focus here is space, discretion and the ability to completely switch off.
Set high above the Peloponnese coastline, Amanzoe is defined by its architecture as much as its setting. The entire property has been designed with the proportions and symmetry of a modern-day Acropolis, giving it a sense of structure and presence that feels both deliberate and quietly powerful.
Space is central to the experience. The accommodation is made up of freestanding pavilions rather than rooms, each with its own private pool and positioned to ensure complete privacy. Distances between them are generous, and even when the hotel is fully occupied, it rarely feels that way.
There is a stillness here that is difficult to replicate. The main areas remain calm, the beach club never feels crowded, and there is an underlying sense that everything has been designed to avoid any feeling of busyness or interruption.
Service is handled with precision and discretion. Nothing feels over-managed, and very little needs to be asked for directly. It’s the kind of place where everything is anticipated and quietly taken care of, allowing you to settle into the rhythm of the stay almost immediately.
The most exclusive option is one of the private villas, each a substantial residence with its own staff and chef, offering complete seclusion alongside access to the wider facilities of the resort.
Best suited to: couples, solo travellers, and families staying in villas.
The intention here is a deeper sense of relaxation, shaped by the setting rather than activity
The Dolli offers a different kind of exclusivity, centred around location and rarity rather than space. Set within a meticulously restored neoclassical mansion in the heart of Athens, it has one of the most direct and uninterrupted views of the Acropolis.
With a very limited number of rooms, suites and apartments, the atmosphere is calm and considered. It feels closer to staying in a private residence than a traditional hotel, with carefully designed interiors and a strong sense of place. The most sought-after rooms are the Acropolis-facing suites and apartments, where the view becomes part of the experience throughout the day. Early mornings and evenings are particularly special, when the city quietens and the setting feels almost entirely your own.
The rooftop is where The Dolli really comes into its own. Designed by Athens-based Kois Architects, it’s not immediately obvious on arrival, which makes the reveal all the more striking. You step out and the Acropolis is suddenly right there, positioned almost level with you, just beyond the infinity pool.
The space itself is deliberately understated, allowing the setting to do the work. A terrace for quieter moments, and a restaurant that shifts between a glass-enclosed space and tables outside. In the evening, everything changes again, with the Acropolis lit and the atmosphere becoming more intimate.
It’s a rare perspective of Athens, and one that stays with you long after you leave.
Best suited to: couples and solo travellers, typically as part of a wider itinerary through Greece.
The focus here is on location, design and a strong sense of place.
What defines these hotels isn’t just privacy or design, but how the experience comes together.
Two properties might offer similar facilities, but the pace, the setting and the way your time is managed can feel entirely different. That’s often what determines whether somewhere is right.
It’s why we spend time understanding how you want a trip to feel, before recommending where to stay. Choosing between them isn’t always straightforward, and the differences are rarely obvious on paper. Each offers a very different way to experience Greece, depending on how you want your time to feel once you’re there.
