Soneva Secret is the very first resort in the Makunudhoo Atoll – the only resort in this untouched region of the Maldives. It’s closest neighbour resort is over 40 kilometres away and while travelling there by sea plane, you’ll fly for a good twenty minutes and see nothing but ocean until you land at this perfect sanctuary
There are only 13 villas on this 1km long island, meaning you have very few fellow guests to share this beautiful space with. Most clients choose to spend intimate time with their loved ones in the seclusion of their own perfect spacious villa.

Marine lovers can explore some of the most untouched reefs in the Maldives, regularly encountering manta rays, dolphins and even whales. Adventure seekers can embark on private yacht excursions, exploring deserted islands, hidden lagoons, a very remote local island and secret snorkelling spots. The dive and marine biology centre will craft your personalised dive experiences to the isolated areas of coral around the resort. The ‘Out of this World’ Observatory offers an experience to learn about the galaxies and the universe.
At Soneva Secret, every meal is a unique ‘no constraints’ dining experience.
Here there aren’t really any set restaurant locations or fixed opening hours and there are no limitations on creativity – ie no ‘constraints’. Instead every meal is a real opportunity to craft a unique dining moment. Guests can dine wherever they like, whether it’s a private picnic on a sandbank, a moonlit beach barbecue or a multi-course tasting menu in the privacy of their own villa.
The resort hosts a team of 14 world-class chefs, each dedicated to private dining in each villa and each specialising in very different cuisines, whether it’s Japanese and Mediterranean, Thai, or Italian. Every ingredient is of course fresh, sustainable and sourced as locally as possible. Menus change daily based on what’s available. The hotel has described the dining experience as ‘true culinary freedom’ and is spontaneous and completely unique to each guest.
One of the hallmarks of Soneva is the unparalleled level of personal service. At Soneva Secret, every guest is assigned a dedicated ‘barefoot guardian’, a ‘barefoot assistant’ and the villa’s own private chef, which ensures that no request is too big or too small during their stay – whether it’s arranging a surprise candlelit dinner on a sandbank, orchestrating a private movie screening or a manta ray snorkelling session. Service here is about anticipation, rather than responding to requests. Guests don’t ever need to ask – this service, whilst attentive, is very discreet and highly intuitive. And of course finally, the villas are exceptional. Choose between a Beach Reserve, a Crusoe Reserve, a Beach or Overwater Hideaway and a Crusoe Villa. They come with the signature outdoor-indoor Soneva design, meaning you embrace the expansive natural beautiful of the island with a seamless transition between living space and vast outdoor deck leading to your infinity pool. The villas, designed with natural materials in soft, calming décor, can be configured across the day and evening via clever sliding panels to close off areas eg at night for sleeping – with a retractable roof for star-gazing. They each come with their own gym (you can pre-order your equipment of course), their own spa treatment room and the water villas with their own playful water slides. Every detail has been anticipated. Each comes with their own paddle board as standard for exploring the lagoon. The final addition to the resort will be an exceptional ‘floating villa’ a level of exclusion not seen before.
