Silky Oaks Lodge sits on the edge of the Daintree Rainforest beside the Mossman River, offering a very different side of tropical North Queensland from the nearby reef and coastal resorts. Surrounded by rainforest canopy and flowing water, the atmosphere here is quiet, relaxed and deeply connected to the landscape, with most stays centred around time outdoors and slowing the pace slightly after travelling through other parts of Australia.
The lodge works particularly well when combined with Port Douglas and the Great Barrier Reef, giving travellers the chance to experience both reef and rainforest within the same itinerary. Days might include guided walks through the Daintree, swimming in the river, spa treatments inspired by the natural surroundings or simply spending time on the private decks listening to the sounds of the forest.
Accommodation is spread throughout the rainforest, with elevated treehouse-style suites designed to maximise privacy and immersion in the setting. Interiors are understated and comfortable, allowing the focus to remain firmly on the surrounding landscape.
