Spa Village Tembok is located in the North Coast of Bali. This area is described as “the other side of Bali” because it’s less touristic than Ubud or Kuta in the South and therefore traditional Balinese culture has been maintained.

If you are looking to get away from everything, this is the perfect location, but do not expect to be able to walk to a village. It is really that quiet!

From the moment we arrived it was beautifully calm and serene and we were treated to a welcome foot ritual and a shoulder massage. The warmth of the staff combined with the sound of the waves and the general atmosphere made us instantly relaxed.

The focal point of Spa Village Tembok is the beautiful deep blue infinity pool which is an extention of the calm Bali sea. To have a small boutique hotel on the beach is quite rare and it is one of the only ones in Bali which makes it extremely appealing! Even though the beach isn’t the largest, hidden under the water are an abundance of colourful tropical fish and corals. The hotel has complimentary snorkelling equipment for you to use at your leisure.

The most eye catching aspect of the hotel is the amount of towering palm trees which create some lovely shady spots to relax in and where you can enjoy the smells of the traditional Balinese flowers.

Their cuisine is simply dreamy. Every meal was beautifully presented with a different menu every day. You can either have “a la carte” or their special menu which includes Indonesian sharing platters. There is always meat, fish, vegetarian or gluten free options and the talented chefs are happy to share their recipes with you.

There is a comprehensive list of many different styles of treatments including special options like couple experiences, starlight massages and the ingredients are typically sourced with particular emphasis on the healing qualities of the black beach sand.  We tried their Balinese massage, lapis-lapis body wrap and Mesipat facial treatment. They were all amazing and we noticed the benefits of all of them but were particularly pleased when people noticed how glowing and rejuvenated our faces were after the facial.

Throughout the day you can enjoy one or all of their 5 complimentary classes from yoga and fitness to learning about tradition Balinese culture. There is a small but well equipped gym and a new yoga shala.

We absolutely loved Spa Village Tembok from start to finish and enjoyed the peaceful and tranquil ambiance. There’s plenty of opportunity to relax as well as experience Bali as the hotel will happily organise tours and excursions all around the island for you.  We were genuinely sad to check-out and will definitely come back!
