Short haul

Sicily

Verdura Golf & Spa Resort is one of Europe's finest golf and spa resorts, located on Sicily's south west coast.  Winner of several prestigious awards since its opening in 2010, this luxury resort is perfect for both adults and families.  There's a Tennis Academy and lots of watersports too. 

Puglia

Borgo Egnazia Golf & Spa Resort, voted Best New Family Hotel in 2012 Tatler Travel Awards, is also perfect for couples too.  Located on the coast in southern Italy, with a variety of accommodation options, including luxury private villas.  Easily accessible for a sunny long weekend.

Tenerife

OK, so Tenerife has not had the best press in recent years, but tucked away in a secluded corner of the island is the excellent Abama Golf & Spa Resort  It's well worth adding to your list of options and, as the sunniest of the Spanish islands, it's an excellent off season destination too. 

Provence

Terre Blanche Golf & Spa Resort in the South of France has two Championship Golf Courses and an excellent David Leadbetter Golf Academy to help adults and children hone their skills.  The sublime spa, pretty gardens, amazing views and easy access to charming Provencal villages, makes this ideal for families with older children.

Cyprus

Crete

Porto Elounda Golf & Spa Resort has a 9 hole par 3 course (each hole has two tees).  It's not a particularly great course but it's fantastic for families, particularly if the kids want tuition at the golf academy.  There's lots of other activities to keep everyone entertained, plus a superb Spa. 

Tunisia

The Residence is an excellent family friendly resort with its own private beach, plus the magnificent Robert Trent Jones II designed 18 hole links style championship golf course.  There's an abundance of facilities for all ages, including tennis, and a wonderful spa. 

Morocco

Mazagan Beach Resort is big and glitzy but the kids will love it.  Located on a massive beach, the resort has a truly impressive array of activities for all ages.  The superb links style championship golf course (designed by Gary Player) is a golfer's delight, and the spa is a welcome sanctuary.

Long haul

Mauritius

Seychelles

For the avid golfer visiting the Seychelles, there's good news and bad news. The good news is that the Constance Lemuria Resort 18 hole championship course on the island of Praslin is a cracker.  The bad news is that this is the only 18 hole course in the Seychelles.  However, there's more good news:  it also has a stunning spa. 

South Africa

There are a great many outstanding golf courses in South Africa, but very few have good spas too.  The exception is Fancourt on the world famous Garden Route, with 3 courses (2 of which are in the country's top 10) and a superb spa.  Another option, nearer Cape Town, is Steenberg.
