Located off the south-east coast of India, Sri Lanka is a magical destination for a holiday during the European winter months.
Sri Lanka has it all: beautiful tropical beaches, cooler mountains, incredible wildlife, tea plantations, ancient monuments, excellent food and diverse cultures.
The coasts are tropical with many palm-lined sandy beaches and charming little towns, whilst the centre of the island is largely mountainous with a cooler climate and dotted with waterfalls, tea plantations and colonial architecture.
Sri Lanka is great for families, couples and single travellers.
The best time to visit from a weather perspective (for most of the island) is from December to March, making this an excellent destination for a holiday during the cold European winter. However, the northeast is perfect during the European summer (stay at Jungle Beach).
