Baros is known for having a wonderful house reef (claimed to be one of the best in the Maldives) and you can access it a short 20 metres from the shore. You can explore on your own or get a guided tour. Here you will also see beautiful coral formations as well as wonderful colourful tropical fish such as angel fish and surgeonfish. You may see an eagle ray, and see a harmless reef shark – and turtles will pay you a visit too!. It’s for everyone from beginner snorkellers (since so close to shore) through to more experienced divers and the experienced marine team at baros will make sure you get the very most from your underwater adventure. They offer a full range of packages from from private snorkelling lessons for beginners through to courses for more experienced divers.
This resort has long white sandy stretches of beach and a really beautiful accessible house reef for snorkelling. You’ll see countless colours of the beautiful tropical fish lighting up the waters as well as moray eels, coral gardens, eagle rays and reef sharks.. not to forget turtles here too! The dive centre at the hotel is run by Meridis Dive and they’ll prepare you to get the most out of your time in the water with snorkelling lessons before you swim out to the reef.
This stunning island has its own house reef to get beginner snorkellers and divers enthused about the world beneath the water and the resort is a diver’s paradise – there are beautiful coral gardens, tropical fish such as triggerfish, anthias and damselfish to be found. Laamu Atoll also heads up vital conservation research in the region into Manta Rays – with over 120 different Rays residence in Hithadhoo Corner (one of the richest dive sites in the region) and so exploring there from Six Senses Laamu (the closest situated resort) is awe-inspiring for those with more experience.
This is a small and perfectly formed, peaceful and luxurious resort which boasts an excellent house reef. Their resident marine biologist will accompany you on your snorkelling trip having talked you through some of the beautiful inhabitants of the reef – multicoloured fish, turtles and some reef sharks and be seen close to shore, but for divers who want to head out further for greater adventure there is a world class site, the ‘Vadhoo Channel’ which is only 10 minutes out by diving boat from the resort.
