The Healthy Holiday Company has recently seen a significant increase in clients actively seeking advice on where they can holiday in a ‘gluten free’ enclave. Many people feel better on a gluten free diet and for those with Coeliac Disease it is vital to find a hotel where complete trust can be put in the kitchen’s preparation of gluten free food.
Over fifteen years ago the company launched its successful in:spa brand which features a gluten free detox diet on a number of retreats throughout the year. However there now many other options and the great news is that hotels are placing increasing importance on catering safely for their Coeliac guests.
But is it just another fad? Absolutely not, says expert nutritionist, Amelia Freer. “A gluten free diet is not just for those who have been diagnosed with Coeliac Disease. There’s the emergence of Non Coeliac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS), which is thought to affect at least 10% of the population and cause common issues such as headaches, IBS, asthma, weight gain and nutrient deficiencies,” commented Freer.
