Alpine Meadows Resort has a secluded location on a lakefront on the western edge of Dunn Peak Provincial Park. Approximately an hour north of Kamloops, it is reached via a winding road from the town of Clearwater. Every turn unveils another outstanding vista.
Bringing luxury lodgings to Canadian wilderness stays, Alpine Meadows Resort consists of a series of well-spaced modern chalets. Made of wooden logs with visible chisel marks, the resort’s structures are modest. However, this should not be mistaken for them being basic, with open fires and rugs creating a homely ambience.
Reminiscent of the fisherman’s huts of a century ago – albeit with modern facilities and amenities – Alpine Meadows Resort combines relaxation with adventure. Complimentary use of kayaks, rowing boats and canoes allows guests to get out onto the lake. The surrounding forest has ample trails for hikes. Meanwhile, the more adventurous can try their hand at activities as diverse as white water rafting and hang gliding.
The resort’s log structures include an activities centre with space for relaxing and various family-orientated table-top games. There is also an outdoor playground for younger children, and a lakeside hot tub for older guests. Outdoor propane grills allow guests to enjoy a barbeque, although the Boathouse Restaurant’s menu of west coast inspired dishes should not be ignored.
The 42 individual chalets are spacious and well-appointed. Large windows provide lovely views, while seating areas can be found both inside and outside on a raised deck. Accommodation is a mix of one and two bedroom log suites, one bedroom chalets with a kitchen, two and three bedroom log homes, and a honeymoon suite.
