Banyan Tree Mayakoba

The 116 elegantly designed one, two and three bedroom villas are perfectly private and all have their own swimming pools and a garden area with high surrounding walls – perfect for romantic getaways, family trips and friends travelling together. The villas are particularly spacious, with high ceilings and top-notch style and furnishings, using a lovely blend of Mayan and Asian designs. Technology is state-of-the-art and comfort is paramount, with surround sound and 42-inch plasma TVs, a wide choice in pillows, and huge bathrooms.

The service is flawless, the cuisine in the four restaurants is superb and the breakfasts are wonderful.

The resort has a beach club with a restaurant, pool and relaxing areas, reached from the main resort by boat through the mangrove lagoons or by bicycle, a popular way for guests to get around.  Bicycles – up to two bikes per villa – are complimentary. There are also golf buggies.

When you’ve spent enough time soaking up the sunshine by your villa pool (or one of the other resort pools) or treating yourself to Banyan Tree’s legendary spa treatments, there are numerous more active options on offer here.  Activities include access to the fabulous Mayakoba championship El Cameleon 18 hole golf course, tennis, a range of watersports, yoga, and a well equipped fitness room. Excursions to the nearby Mayan ruins, such as Tulum and Coba, are a must.

Banyan Tree Spa Mayakoba is an experience in itself. The Rainforest Trail features eight different hydrothermal therapy experiences that include the Rain Walk, Aroma Steam Chamber and Finnish Sauna to afford you a holistic and revitalising experience in a tropical world of extravagant natural beauty. Unique to this spa is the use of Melipona Honey gathered from Mexican bees. The Honey Oil, an extraction from the bees, is a time-honoured remedy for detoxifying and healing skin.

Children are welcome at Banyan Tree Mayakoba and for children under 12 there is an informal kids’ club with a variety of activities including eco tours, video games, board games and beach fun.

The kids’ club, which has an indoor playroom, is available from 09.00 – 17.00.

The larger 2 or 3 bedroom villas offer perfect accommodation for families. Baby equipment including cots, extra beds, buggies, monitors and high chairs can all be provided on request. Babysitting can also be arranged.

A very popular activity for children is playing a part of life’s great circle and releasing baby turtles at Sands Beach Club. Your children will be responsible for ensuring the baby turtles reach the sea safely and swim off into freedom. Banyan Tree Mayakoba offers this life-changing experience twice a year.

Kids also love the boat tours through the mangroves and following the resort’s 3 mile nature trail on bikes or on foot.
