Domes of Elounda is part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. A resort with a village feel, it looks out towards the evocative Spinalonga Isle from its coastal Cretan location. The resort’s first-rate spa, sandy Blue Flag beach and excellent choice of restaurants makes it a resort par excellence for family Mediterranean holidays with an added touch of magic. That said, multiple adults-only areas ensure tranquillity and a more mature ambience too.
Stylishly contemporary, modern artworks dot the resorts public plazas alongside box-like stores. Meandering paths lead through well cared for gardens to the great range of facilities and amenities. Accommodation climbs a hillside to ensure uninterrupted Mediterranean or garden views. Buggies ensure the inclines never become an issue. Blending into the surrounding geology, rooms are deliberately understated. However, an emphasis remains on quality, with hand carved woods and comfy soft furnishings abounding.
Knowledgeable staff are friendly an excellent with children. They offer a range of treatments at the opulent black and gold Soma Spa. There are even treatments for children, providing the perfect excuse for agreeing to the signature Cretan therapy using local herbs. The spa also contains an indoor pool, sauna and steam room.
Elsewhere at Domes of Elounda guests have the pick of several pools – including an adults-only option – and a sandy beach. Naturally shaded by olive trees, it has a good number of sun loungers. Additional resort facilities include a fitness centre and outdoor tennis courts.
A total of 158 rooms/suites, including 98 Suites, eight private residences, 20 core residences, 28 luxury residences and four villas. Designed by interiors specialist Olyvia Siskou, accommodation comprises open-plan spaces.
