Four Seasons Kuda Huraa

Apart from lounging by the lovely infinity pool, sampling the delicious gourmet cuisine at one of the three restaurants, including an Indian speciality venue, there’s an enticing selection of complimentary activities on offer, such as snorkelling, motorised and non-motorised water sports, dolphin cruises, fishing and an excellent Kids Club (Kuda Mas) to keep everyone occupied if they so wish.

We particularly like the Marine Discovery Centre here. An interactive research and education centre that introduces guests and local school children alike to the role everyone can each play in conserving the local and global marine ecosystem.  The Centre features 3D movies and 2D presentations on specific areas of conservation close to the Kuda Huraa team’s heart, including turtles, coral reefs, sharks and dolphins.

Available for children aged from 4 to 12, the Kuda Mas (“small fish”) Club keeps the youngest guests entertained during their holidays with an action-packed programme featuring a variety of beach and outdoor activities, creative crafts and games that are fun, educational and culturally enriching. Children aged three or under are welcome when accompanied by an adult guardian. Childcare services are available for a fee.

The programme at the Kuda Mas Club aims to provide a fun and safe environment for all children, allowing them to experience the Maldivian spirit through wandering, wondering, exploring and discovering through interactive activities

Surfing:  A dedicated surf school with professional surf instructors offers escorted surf sessions and clinics for experienced surfers as well as lessons for beginners.

Diving:  Known internationally as one of the world’s best scuba diving destinations, the Maldives has an abundance of dive sites with one thrilling dive opportunity after another. The waters surrounding Four Seasons Kuda Huraa have consistently warm waters with outstanding visibility.   Immerse yourself in enormous shoals of butterflyfish and oriental sweetlips; drift the channels with white tips, hammerheads and whalesharks; descend deep sea ridges with eagle rays, giant napoleans and blue marlin; spot turtles at dawn, dolphins at dusk and mass seasonal gatherings of manta rays; or marvel at the “weird and wonderfuls” that inhabit the vast reef-formations and unique Maldivian thilas.  Exhilarating sites include vibrant thilas, exciting channels, coral-filled overhangs and fascinating wrecks.

The resorts’ PADI Five-Star IDC Dive Centre offers tailored programmes for all abilities (including absolute beginners) and personalised experiences with specialty courses taught by some of the country’s most experienced instructors.

Non-motorised watersports (all complimentary):  include snorkelling, sailboats, kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans.

Motorised water sports:  Parasailing (solo or tandem), jet skiing, wake-boarding, water-skiing, fun tubes and banana rides.

Island Hopping:  The Maldives’ 1,190 islands feature countless sandbanks and reef tops where you can enjoy unlimited land or sea activities – snorkel at isolated reefs, visit traditional Maldivian villages or relax in private on a deserted sandbank.  The resort’s 16.7m (55ft) luxury sports cruiser, Landaa Summer, allows you to island-hop in comfort.  Its easy sea access makes for effortless snorkelling or swimming from the back of the boat, while the air-conditioned salon with flat-screen television provides comfortable relaxation in the heat of the day.  Set lunches are served on board.

Dolphin Experience:  Hundreds of dolphins live in the waters near Kuda Huraa.  Join one of the resort’s marine biologists for a short briefing on this fascinating marine animal, then hop on board a speedboat and cruise into the sunset, watching schools of dolphins swimming around you.

Yoga:  As with all Four Seasons Resorts, the yoga programme here at Kuda Haraa is excellent.  The resort’s yogi offers complimentary group classes every morning and evening, as well as private, individual sessions that are tailored to suit personal preferences and ability.

Fitness:  If you still have the energy for a workout, the gym is a state-of-the-art fitness facility featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, full length mirrors, a surround-sound music system, fitness equipment and the latest cardiovascular machines with individual flat-screen televisions.
