Knight Inlet Lodge promises its guests one of the best grizzly bear and whale watching experiences in Canada. It is situated in the habitat of the country’s largest bears, the Great Bear Rainforest. Knight Inlet Lodge therefore provides exceptional Canada wildlife viewing from its picturesque fjord-like ocean inlet location.
Since it is indigenously owned, Knight Inlet Lodge seeks to compliment the region’s stunning natural environment. Comprising five single-storey buildings constructed on a floating dock, the lodge could not be closer to the inlet’s wildlife. For instance, bears are often spotted foraging on the shore just a short distance away. Interiors are deliberately neutral in look, focussing attention on views of the shore or inlet.
Guests can relax in the interior and exterior lounges. However, to soak up the calming ambience without either grizzly bear or whale watching would be a mistake. Boat tours are the best way to see both during the spring. Grizzly watching then turns to the region’s logging roads and finally the lodge’s specially built viewing platforms. Watching the action from here in autumn, as the animals feast on an excess of salmon, is magical.
Menus at Knight Inlet Lodge are strong on local seafood, including salmon, crab and prawns straight from the inlet. Its expert chefs use the freshest ingredients to create tasty west coast and continental dishes all within sight of foraging bears.
This fly-in lodge has just 18 rooms, with fourteen featuring two queen-sized beds. Four contain a single queen-sized bed plus two additional single beds, making them ideal for family holidays in Canada.
