Located in the stunningly beautiful and world famous Franschhoek winelands, La Residence offers a whole host of activities to ensure a varied and enjoyable stay. On a hot summer’s day, enjoy a cooling dip in the magnificent infinity pool or recline on a sun-lounger under a shady umbrella. Alternatively, unwind with a massage in the spa or head to the gym for a workout. There is also the option to stroll or cycle around the estate and soak up the beauty of the olive trees, vines and roses – and to admire the Franschhoek winelands beyond. When temperatures drop, curl up with a book in the library and hide away until cocktail time or sip ginger tea beside an open fire. If you feel like venturing out to the village, a complimentary transfer service will take you to one of the award-winning restaurants for a meal to remember. A private cheese or wine tasting can also be arranged at one of the surrounding Franschhoek winelands.

La Residence has two in-house therapists, but also uses a network of highly qualified outside therapists to deliver luxurious massages and beauty treatments using Dermalogica skin products. Treatments may be enjoyed in the spa’s double treatment room or in the privacy of your own bedroom terrace. Signature La Residence spa treatments include the Swedish Massage, specifically designed to relax muscles, stimulate circulation and increase muscle tone. Perfect after a long-haul flight! Or try the tension-releasing Deep Tissue Massage to ease stiff necks, lower back tightness and sore shoulders. When the weather is fine, massages and other Franschhoek spa treatments can also be enjoyed in the open air in the Tea House overlooking the main dam.

Children of all ages are welcome in the private villas but must be over 12 to stay in the main residence.

You can also play golf, go trout fishing or quad-biking, paragliding, hot-air ballooning or take horseback tour of the surrounding wine farms.

Each of the eleven gloriously opulent guest suites is uniquely appointed; from the exotic Tibetan Suite with Oriental antiques and hand-painted screens to the French boudoir Chambre Bleu Suite boasting Provencal antiques and mirrored dressers. Beautiful fabrics, including superlative silks, have been hand-picked to match each interior creating a bespoke character in each one, while chandeliers, freestanding roll top Victorian baths and four-poster beds abound.

Accommodation in the five brand-new villas is uber glamorous and decorated in true Liz Biden style. Set away from the main hotel, the villas are perfect for families with children who are too young to stay at the main property.
