Latitude 10 is an intimate, boutique hideaway – there are just five roomy villas – dedicated to the comfort and well-being of visitors who are looking to be embraced by the natural world during their stay, who welcome the intrusion of animals and birds, and who enjoy the feel of being a guest in a private home. For this is not a hotel, per se; nor is it a glamorous camp site: it can only be compared to a luxury beach house.
The spacious, individual and very secluded casitas are simply decorated with high-quality polished wood furnishings. You almost feel you are sleeping out of doors – the windows on all sides have no glass, and the bathroom is also al fresco (a curious iguana might appear while you are taking a shower). Each casita has its own private porch and is surrounded by beautiful native vegetation.
Amenities include open sky bathrooms, ceiling fans, outdoor deck/sitting area, safe deposit box, and daily housekeeping service. All the buildings in the resort are immaculate.
15 hour international flight to San José. From San José it is then a 1 hour light aircraft flight to Tambor, followed by a 50 minute car transfer to Latitude 10. Alternatively, driving from San José takes 6 hours, via the ferry from Puntarenas to Paquera.
