Now part of the Relais & Châteaux family, the Sonora Resort has come a long way from the simple fishing cabin of 40 years ago. While modelled on the traditional design styles of the region, the interiors have been given a contemporary lift through a careful choice of furnishings, alongside large picture windows looking out onto the gently-rippling waters.
The Island Currents Spa offers a wide range of treatments aimed at relaxing body and mind, from massage therapies and facials to revitalising body treatments and manicures. There are 88 rooms, suites and villas at Sonora Resort. Rooms are located within one of five uniquely designed and decorated lodges facing the ocean. Its ever-shifting ambience can be enjoyed through picture windows, a feature in all rooms. They have a cedar wood ‘post and beam’ styling and a calming colour palette.
Rooms are interspersed by a series of two-to-six-bedroom suites with outdoor balconies. Within their own grounds, there are also three private villas with secluded terraces, elegant open fireplaces and original artworks hanging from their walls. They can sleep 4-12 guests.
