For 70 years Tekarra Lodge has been a place to come and unwind in spectacular scenery. Open seasonally between May and October, it is located within Alberta’s Jasper National Park. It sits between the meandering banks of the Athabasca River and Twin Lakes. As such, the lodge is only a short distance from downtown Jasper.
Situated on a ridge above the river, Tekarra Lodge comprises a series of authentic wood clad cabins. They have cosy interiors finished with natural materials, from stone fireplaces to leather armchairs. Although filled with sunlight, the surrounding Rocky Mountain landscapes are best enjoyed from the furnished exterior porches.
A stay at Tekarra Lodge is centred around experiencing the majestic Rockies in all their glory. Guests can use the lodge rental bikes to explore. Alternatively, they can head out on river rafting adventures, stand-up paddleboards or on horseback. Each activity is easy to arrange nearby.
Within the confines of the hotel’s cabins, staff lead regular yoga sessions. Other activities include interpretive nature walks and children’s craft nights. There’s also a children’s outdoor play area. After sunset, guests gather nightly to share in the warmth and sweet treats of the lodge firepit. Meanwhile, the Tekarra restaurant serves up homely dishes using locally-sourced ingredients. These include Canadian back bacon with maple syrup for breakfast, alongside bison ribs and rainbow trout come evening.
There are ten rooms and 43 cabins at Tekarra Lodge. Adult-only lodge rooms are located above the restaurant and come with a mini-fridge and microwave. Family and pet friendly cabins can sleep between two and eight people. They contain either a kitchenette or full kitchen and wood-burning fire. Cabins start at 32m2.
