Whilst you might spot whales from the shore (or we can arrange a boat trip to boost the odds), and there’s a local elephant park and bird and monkey sanctuaries, you really need to head up to the Eastern Cape for a true safari experience.
It’s about a 3 hour drive from Plettenberg Bay through beautiful countryside to the best game reserves in the Eastern Cape.
We recommend Kwandwe and Ecca Lodge, depending on your accommodation preferences. At both places you are likely to spy the Big Five and really get a flavour of what a big game safari is all about.
Stay for a couple of nights or more and you can be sure of an unforgettable experience. Plus, these reserves are mercifully malaria-free, so ideal for families.
