LUX* Maldives is located in the South Ari Atoll, which is renowned for being one of the best dive sites in the world, accessible by a 25 minute seaplane from Male. Due to the way the resort is configured, it’s great for both families and couples.
LUX* Maldives is one of few family-friendly properties in the Maldives. In addition to a well equipped Kid’s Club and teen facilities the resort offers a good choice of interconnecting rooms as well as spacious Family Water Villas.
The 193 rooms and suites are located both on the beach and over water, with direct access to the beach or lagoon from their private terrace. The Water Villas boast breathtaking ocean views and, depending on your preference, you can choose from the sunrise or sunset side of the island. The Prestige Water Villas, on the west side of the island, are away from the main resort areas (and the Family Villas) and are ideal for honeymoon couples looking for peace and privacy.
LUX* Maldives has an amazing selection of restaurants – more than most Maldivian resorts – offering a variety of cuisines. Other facilities include one of the largest spas in the Maldives with treatment rooms set in the gardens and over water; a 5-star Euro Divers PADI dive centre to explore the nearby house reef by short boat ride; an array of land and water sports and fantastic kid’s club. See activities for details about all land and water-based services and facilities.
The resort is the first Maldives venture for the renowned LUX* Hotel Group with its small collection of leading hotels in the Indian Ocean and you can expect excellent service and attention to detail.
For those wanting to explore the depths of the ocean, LUX* offers access to some of the nation’s most beautiful dive sites, where scuba enthusiasts can see an abundance of parrotfish, butterfly fish, sting rays, manta rays, tuna and barracuda, not to mention impressive yet gentle whale sharks. You might even encounter an elusive hawksbill, dolphin or green turtle.
Dive sites include Maamagili, suitable for beginners and those who have never dived before, Aa Thila for the more experienced, and Thinfushi Beru Tila for advanced divers. The resort’s dive centre offers 37 incredible dive sites, two wreck sites and night diving, all within a short boat ride offshore.
Two diving sessions are hosted daily, with at least one trained monitor for every four divers. The dive centre also has a Euro Divers five-star PADI certification for complete peace of mind. Courses include Discover Scuba Diving, Scuba Diver (leading to PADI Scuba Diver certification), and an Open Water Diver Course. The latter lasts five to six days and leads to an internationally-recognised PADI scuba diving certificate and a card that entitles you to rent equipment and dive anywhere in the world to a depth of 18m during the day. NITROX diving courses are also available.
