Kempinski San Lawrenz

The hotel describes itself as a five-star country resort (but we would prefer to grade it as good 4 star), and has 73 spacious, elegant rooms and 49 suites, all with air conditioning and free WiFi.

The authentic, delightfully calming Ayurveda Centre offers a variety of therapies and cures. The qualified Ayurveda physician at the hotel is available for consultation and can recommend and schedule tailor-made treatments to promote your well-being and treat specific conditions.  The separate Spa also offers a wide choice of non-Ayurvedic treatments. The combined spa areas have 2 heated indoor pools, an indoor Jacuzzi, an Oriental Hammam, a steam bath, a fitness studio, 2 squash courts and 2 flood-lit tennis courts.

There are 3 large free-form outdoor pools at the hotel, one of which is dedicated to adults only.  For those travelling with their children, there’s a complimentary Kids Club (for 3 to 12 year olds) available from May to September.

The hotel has a complimentary daily yoga class for guests.  There’s also a complimentary, regular shuttle service to some of the island’s most charming and picturesque villages and beaches.

There is a good selection of places to dine at the Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz, all with al fresco options, and there is a daily healthy menu.  You can enjoy a light lunch in the gardens at Fish & Grill restaurant or dine casually at the Italian ‘Trattoria San Lawrenz’ or choose fine dining at Ortolan.  All the restaurants provide delicious Mediterranean and light Maltese cuisine with field fresh vegetables, olives, herbs and citrus picked fresh from the resort’s own garden. Furthermore, the Pool Bar offers refreshing beverages during the day and the popular ‘La Caverna’ Wine Bar features a selection of more than 300 local and international wines.

Depending on the age of your children, you can also go out cycling, snorkelling or kayaking or head to the tennis court for a knock up or a couple of sets.

Babysitting services are also available upon request with a 24 hour notice, at a charge.

For families staying at Kempinski San Lawrenz we would recommend staying in a 2 bedroom suite or a 3 bedroom apartment.  Alternatively, a family of 4 could all share a Junior Suite with 2 rollout beds set up in the sitting room area (but there is no door separating the bedroom from the sitting area).

Gozo enjoys long hot summers and mild winters and should be considered a year round destination.  Because of the weather on Gozo, travellers visit to sunbathe almost all year long – except for some of the coolest winter months.  We therefore suggest that the best months to visit are from April to October.
