The wonderful and enticing Banyan Tree Spa at Palácio Estoril occupies two floors and has a markedly oriental style, helping recreate the essential escape-like environment that allows you to “disconnect” from daily life and “give in” to rituals that can last for up to three hours. There are also a selection of wellness retreat programmes on offer, such as detox, anti-ageing, de-stress and weight loss. In the great outdoors, you can enjoy a round of golf or spend sunny days by the pool or on the beach, just a five minute walk away.  Take time out to wander along the seafront promenade with its boutiques, bars and restaurants and in the evening try your luck at the nearby casino. A little further along the coast to the west, approx 2 miles away, the once sleepy fishing village of Cascais is well worth exploring. There’s also great surfing at Praia do Guincho, about 9 miles northwest of the hotel, and there’s running or cycling opportunities along shoreline paths.
